Global Wrap installed approximately 86,000 square feet of temporary exterior construction walls for a large data center project in New Albany, Ohio this winter. The enclosure was installed during a period of extreme winter weather to help the project maintain interior working conditions and keep construction trades moving despite temperatures falling below zero.
At this stage of construction, the entire permanent exterior envelope remained open while interior trades continued progressing throughout the building. Global Wrap installed its 12-mil fire-retardant heat-shrink containment system around the active portions of the structure, creating a temporary weather protection barrier that allowed heated interior work areas to be maintained during severe cold.
The temporary enclosure supported continued work by MEP contractors and other interior trades during a critical phase of the project. By reducing direct exposure to the outside environment and helping retain temporary heat, the system allowed interior construction activities to continue safely rather than being interrupted by extreme winter conditions.
The installation itself presented several logistical and safety challenges. Temporary walls reached approximately 43 feet high and were installed from boom lifts while crews worked around an active jobsite containing cranes, scaffolding, equipment, and other ongoing construction operations. Work was also completed in below-zero temperatures, requiring careful coordination, safe lift operation, and close attention to changing site conditions throughout the installation.
Large access openings were incorporated into the enclosure as directed by the project team to maintain safe and efficient access for personnel, equipment, and continuing construction activities.
By temporarily enclosing the active work zones of the building, Global Wrap helped the project maintain interior productivity through extreme winter conditions while supporting safe access and continued progress toward the overall construction schedule.
