In the past Global Wrap® containments have been damaged by the fireproofing contractor cutting our securing lines to push the containment out and away from the steel. This jeopardized the containment, but it inspired us to design a method to overcome this problem. Global Wrap® has designed a method to install our containments off the face of the steel for fireproofing. We have been known for many years to be able to shrink wrap steel structures, but we added this very necessary innovation to the application. The containment can be 18" or more off the face of the structure, enabling the cementitious or intumescent fire proofing to be sprayed on the steel and dry from the heated building. The containment can then be used by all the trades to work through the winter or inclement weather. You may not be concerned about snow, but what about rain and the winds. Do you lose expensive heat when the tarps blow around or away? Think of the heat savings. The containment can be divided between the concrete and the fireproofing costs. No more tarps blowing like flags in the wind and it benefits the entire project until the curtain walls go up. Global Wrap® can be taken down in daily sections according the curtain wall installation. We have done this application for both trades, so why not consider Global Wrap® in your estimating or share the information with your fireproofing and concrete contractors, if it is their responsibility to bid.
