Every good idea brings imitators. While they didn't put the sweat, tears and capital into developing the idea into a patent and a business, they are entitled to the shortcut, that's capitalism. What they don't have is the experience and expertise, they are imitators.
James Talbot invented the process for shrink wrapping boats in 1978. Patent 4247509.

Global Wrap®LLC President Anthony Seraphin developed the process of shrink wrapping of large objects, such as buildings and scaffolding.

Messrs. Talbot and Seraphin started the first shrink wrapping company back in 1980. They also started the first shrink wrap service company in 1986..
Since then, people have gone into business shrink wrapping anything they can, from boats, RV's and motorcycles. Some are trying to compete with Global Wrap® in the most serious of applications involving work on tall buildings and other structures. Some have even tried to go into oil refineries with dismal results, not only in the installations, but in safety.

People are starting franchising companies overnight. Through a public relations person they hire to hype their wares, they are doing nothing more than alluding to the unsuspecting franchise purchaser that they can earn back the franchise fee, sometimes $75,000, quickly and go onto to get rich. Buyer beware, get the references, check out to see if this company really has the number of franchises it claims, hire a franchise lawyer to research the company and it's claims, better to spend a thousand than lose $75,000.00. Don't depend on the free PR articles in financial hype magazines, where the reporter doesn't do due diligence and research before going to print. Remember W.C. Fields, "The more a man claims his honesty, the tighter I hold onto my wallet". When a franchisor claims to have the corner on a billion dollar market because he pretends to have a material no one else has, don't buy into this claim. When a website claims they have perfected what Global Wrap invented, give it some thought and ask yourself if the circle can be impoved upon. Investigate with the SEC and the FTC about their claims. Anyone can take someone else's photographs, put up a quick misleading website and claim to have "perfected" (sic) Global Wrap's process, are the innovators and experts, but ask them these questions?
1. Is this a part time business?
2. Are you just a middleman?
3. How long have you been shrink wrapping buildings, for that matter, anything?
4. Did you ever work for Global Wrap® and if so, why aren't you there now?
5. Are the images on your site, projects that you have done, or are you using images of others
to misrepresent your experience?
6. Can you produce a Workers Comp Certificate and Certificate of Insurance with your company
name on it?
7. Does your company have an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) from the
National Council of Compensation Insurance, Inc. and if so, is it less than 1 ?

8. Do you have an office, warehouse, trucks and trailers?
9. Do you have in-house trained and experienced shrink wrap crews?
10. Do you have the proper state licensing?
11. Has your company ever been terminated during a job?
12. Will you produce references for jobs you claim to have completed?
13. What are the insurance companies you claim to be a preferred vendor for?
14. Can you send me a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) proving what you claim your film and
tapes are?

Interior Protection
One company incorporated in 2001 is now claiming they invented interior protection, that's like saying they invented house painting, something that has evolved over the last two millenniums.
Global Wrap® can claim we invented another process for replacing two layers of 6 mil poly for interior containment for asbestos removal, with one layer of our 12 mil shrink film, saving vast hours of labor and materials. This was done for Macy's on Long Island in 1993 and we installed the interior containment over 200,000 sq. ft.

Global Wrap® believes it is important for you to know about fraud and misrepresentation by U.S. Shrink Wrap, now known as U.S. Shrinkwrap, Inc. While our company respects fair competition to benefit consumers, we will pursue fraud. A trusted family member, GARY RONALD CILLS, aka "GARY RONALD SILLS", was brought into the family business by his mother who wanted to help him. He in turn brought in, SHERRI LYNN FISHER, to assist in the bookkeeping, both grossly deceived GW and the family, who trusted them. CILLS and FISHER worked for us less than nine months and knew nothing about shrink wrapping before then. While on GW's payroll, FISHER put up the website, www.usshrinkwrap.com , with CILLS using GW's American Express card to start it. While we shut down www.usshrinkwrap.com, they now reopened as www.usshrinkwrapinc.com
By using a GW American Express card, GW money and intellectual property, they violated State and Federal law. CILLS and FISHER misappropriated GW's work photographs causing GW legal fees to get them removed from their site, however they are using other peoples' photographs for their website -- an unfair and deceptive trade practice in violation of Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. CILLS and FISHER would mislead readers into thinking US Shrinkwrap did the work shown on their site. Their website shows multi versions of the same job, as well as other photographs of work not done by them. They now work out of Ms. Fisher's house.
CILLS deceptively took $20,000 from Global Wrap®, the result of what we believe to have been bank fraud. We obtained a court order freezing his account and having the the money deposited with the court. After over a year, the money was returned to us, minus legal fees. GW is seeking criminal and civil remedies against CILLS and FISHER to protect our intellectual property and consumers, and to reduce confusion in the marketplace. They take two jobs they claim they did and turn them into a multitude of photograhs alluding to many applications, as if the photos are a multitude of jobs.
Global Wrap® management has spent over 29 Years developing applications. We invented the shrink wrap process and are proud of our track record in safety, design, quality and delivery.

We constantly hear about shrink wrap failures at jobsites around the Nation. GW spends many hours in phone calls and visits concerning other peoples' failures. These failures are the result of hiring companies claiming to be "experts" when they are not. This is the process GW invented.
Price seems to be always play a part, as well as the customer not knowing about Global Wrap. We have gone to facilities after a failure and found out that the containment was installed with inferior products and expertise. After giving our presentation, we have been assured that from now on GW would be called in for their containment needs.
Due to bad work and major failures, some industries were in the process of banning shrink wrap. After GW's presentation and education of proper installation and safety procedures, shrink wrap is not only being reconsidered, but it is going to used in applications the industries didn't realize it could be used for.
When it comes to high winds and scaffold containment, all too many companies have learned the hard way that an artificially low price is not the best choice.
The first blowout makes GW more than competitive, the second makes us inexpensive. The first safety violation give a possible warning at best, the second causes a shut down.
GW is known for safety and that could be the difference in success or failure. Again and again, the old adage, "Apples to Apples" should prevail before awarding a shrink wrap contract. We are not intimidated by fair competition.
